STAYturf
Product Introduction
STAYturf is a mature turf product produced by establishing soil free turf onto an organic geotextile reinforced with a UV stabilised Turf Reinforcement Mesh. The roots are grown through the geotextile and the mesh, producing a strong matrix.
Installation
STAYturf can be cut into rolls up to 4 metres wide, making it the ideal product for any channel. A proven anchor trench system is used in conjunction with temporary pegging to provide initial stability. The pegs are removed once the product has established. This system provides immediate resistance to high water flow.
Research & Development
The testing of STAYturf was independently designed and supervised by The School Of Environmental Sciences at Griffith University.
STAYturf was installed into a freshly excavated channel on an 18% gradient and immediately subjected to a flow rate of 450 litres per second. A velocity of 3.3 metres per second was recorded. The tests produced zero soil loss under the STAYturf with no degradation to the product.
Application
STAYturf has been successfully installed in overland flow paths, batter drains, catch drains, creek banks, and roadside drains as a cost effective alternative to hard armour such as rock or concrete.
STAYturf has the added advantage of improving downstream water quality by assisting in the filtering of leachates, nutrients and sediment. It has also been used to complement rock mattress protection work.
