Australian Turfgrowers Unite Under National Body
Australia, Barossa Valley, March 11 2002 - Thirty-four Australian Turf Growers met to form a professional body dedicated to the advancement of quality turf production.
This meeting resulted in the founding of "Turf Producers Australia" ("TPA"), comprising members from six states, whose aim is to raise the standard of turf supplied to professional and domestic customers through unity of purpose and sharing of knowledge.
The TPA will also provide much-needed industry representation and act as a principal advisory body for turf producers and allies. Other aims are to:
- encourage best practice across the industry
- provide a forum for industry members and allies
- form a code of practice to guide members
- maintain environmental values
- represent the industry in dealing with local, state and federal government agencies including international representation
- encourage education and research to benefit the industry and community
The association was formed and the board of directors elected after a three day seminar held in the Barossa Valley. Queensland has two board members. They are Bob Greasley, Treasurer (Rochedale Turf) and Lynn Davidson (Jimboomba Turf Group).
