Site Preparation
The preparation of the surface before the installation of your new lawn is most critical. It is imperative to get your land levels correct so that water flows away from buildings. The use of field gullies in low areas will alleviate ponding of water, and allow for fast dispersion of surface water during rain.
Turfgrass requires a good depth of growing medium (soil) to maximize growth during seasonal changes. A reasonable depth of soil will allow for deep root penetration, keeping them cool and moist. A healthy lawn should have a deep, strong root system to assist with climatic changes.
We recommend a growing medium of imported soil to ensure establishment of the new turfgrass. This soil should be spread to a depth of between 50 - 150mm. A bobcat is recommended to prepare the site and spread the imported soil. Utilising a bobcat will assist in reducing the highs and lows of the site surface, ensuring correct drainage.
Using weed free soil is essential when preparing your site for turfing. We only purchase soil from a select group of suppliers to ensure a premium product. Let one of our specialist representatives visit your home to advise on your site preparation requirements.
