Watering

Newly laid turf must be kept moist to prevent 'set back'. Different soils have different moisture holding capabilities and therefore you will need to monitor your soil in order to maintain correct moisture.

As a general rule, new turf should have a heavy watering at least every third day with two light applications each day. Weather and soil moisture should be monitored to ensure that the turf does not dry out or that the soil does not become waterlogged and boggy. In very hot conditions, the light waterings may need to be increased.

Be aware that some areas of your lawn may require a different watering schedule. For example, steep slopes and areas along building walls where reflected heat dries the turf out, may require extra watering.

St. Augustine or Soft Leaf Buffalo turf should not be overwatered. Regular light waterings are recommended in place of the saturation waterings for couch grass. It is very important that these grasses do not dry out, and that over watering does not occur.
