Dalby is a locality and town located in the Darling Downs.

Founded in the early 1840’s, Dalby was known locally as “The Crossing” a tribute to the Condamine River. Henry Dennis was one of the first settlers who explored the area and chose land for himself and others.

The origin of the towns name is from the Isle of Man. Reflecting immigration in the Isle of Man in the mid-19th century. Captain Samual Perry surveyed Dalby in 1853 and gave it this name. Dalby was officially named a township in 1854.
