Need to repair your lawn, but do not have the time or budget? In this weeks turf tip, we look at 4 ways you can repair your lawn on a budget.
#1 – Seeding your lawn
Good for larger areas, lawn seed will be able to grow in cold and wet climes, unfortunately for South-East Queenslanders this is not a luxury; as applying seeds to your lawn areas will often fail due to the hot SEQ weather. Seeded varieties are often a blend of ryegrass; ryegrass grows fast but dies off the moment it warms up.
Seeding your lawn can be great for those who want to repair their lawn, but in the long term it will take quite a lot of time and money to get the best result. Great varieties such as Sir Grange, TifTuf and even Sir Walter cannot be grown from seed.
#2 – Bring in a couple of slabs
Do you have plenty of time and little budget? Why not grab a few slabs and let them grow?
A great way to start from scratch, this method is an effective but super slow one.
#3 – Cutting in patches
Have some bare patches or bare spots that need fixing? Cutting in patches to some troublesome spots is a great budget method.
Perfect for any tiny patches that need rejuvenation, cutting in pieces is not recommended for large areas as they will take longer to establish compared to that of a complete slab.
You can buy a single slab from our sales office at Acacia Ridge or at your local Bunnings.
#4 – Work in sections
Been meaning to replace the lawn? Well, why not work in small sections?
You can pick up small amounts from our sales office at Acacia Ridge or at Bunnings.
Doing small sections of your lawn will allow lawn replacement to be easier on the budget. South East Queensland’s climate allows you to do year-round turfing, giving you the optimal amount of time to do the work you need.
