Sir Grange Zoysia Vs. TifTuf Bermuda

This weeks blog post we thought we would discuss the differences between two of our favourite turf varieties, सर ग्रेंज and टिफटफ. Before we compare these varieties, let’s go through them.

सर ग्रेंज

Sir Grange

सर ग्रेंज is an absolute gem when it comes to turf varieties. Crisp, clean and green it is the absolute cream of the crop.

सर ग्रेंज has a super dark fine leaf blade, high shade tolerance and low water requirements. It is slow-growing, requires as little as 50% less mowing and 75% less fertiliser than other varieties, it truly is the ultimate luxury lawn. It has proven its luxurious finish in use on the exclusive Killara Golf Club in North Sydney.

TifTuf Bermuda

टिफटफ grass is a fine leafed turf variety. Hand picked from almost 30,000 varieties, it went through 25 years of research and development before coming to the Australian market.

टिफटफ has low water usage making it perfect for water restrictions. Requiring 38% less water than other similar varieties*, high wear tolerance, mild shade tolerance and perfect winter colour. TifTuf Bermuda the first and only grass variety to receive the Smart Approved WaterMark in Australia. Its superior performance has seen it chosen for high profile projects including the New Farm Park dog off-leash area and at Southbank’s favourite; the Brisbane sign.

TifTuf takes the win on this one. TifTuf Bermuda requires 38% less water than other similar turf varieties. Sir Grange also has low water requirements and has a deep root structure that is perfect for water usage but cannot match the performance of TifTuf.

TifTuf takes the win. TifTuf Bermuda has stupendous recovery and can handle high wear situations. Sir Grange also has great wear which is why it is exemplary for golf courses.

If you hate mowing weekly, Sir Grange is the perfect turf variety. Sir Grange requires as little as 50% mowing and can also be left lusciously long.

If you have overhanging trees and shade is an issue in your yard, Sir Grange is perfect.

The verdict for both varieties is…it depends. If you are after a turf variety that is perfect for shade and requires less mowing, Sir Grange is the perfect candidate. If you love mowing and want a more wear and tear variety, TifTuf is the way to go.

  1. I think it is really neat that TifTuf Bermuda is so popular in Australia! I bought the sod for my yard from NG Turf (, a sod farm in Northern Georgia (USA). They spoke very highly of TifTuf Bermuda sod. It was released from the University of Georgia breeding program, so I thought it may have been of a local variety.
After having TifTuf for a few years now, I can attest to its drought resistance, color quality and using much less water than my previous variety to look amazing.
